The "I'm not dead and neither is this project" post.
Hello. So it's apparently been nearly half a year since I last updated... Jeez time flies by so fast! I hadn't even realized it'd been that long. Anyway, I'm still working on this game in my spare time. the process is definitely much slower than I want it to be, but i can confirm it's still being made. My main focus has been working out a bunch of bugs and polishing out the controls. The new build will feel a bit different than all the previous ones. I've made Lilly a tad bid more floaty. it's nothing significant, but I think it's a pretty nice improvement.
I've also adjusted the swimming controls. It's a little hard to explain how I've changed them, but basically it should be a lot easier to ascend when swimming. it's also faster.
I've also completely redone some of Lilly's sprites. The jumping sprite is completely different, and now has a little animation in it. It also helps make the jumping feel a lot more fluid, So it doesn't just look better. I've also changed her idle animation. before it's now much more "bouncy" than the older sprite. She looks more energetic as well.
I've also been working on music. I'm uploading a few of the tracks to the YouTube channel if you want to hear some of them. Just remember that they're all subject to change.
I'm also beginning to implement some story elements. I've got a few character interactions working, and I've got some basic cutscenes running. it's nothing too impressive. mainly just auto-movement and dialogue triggers, but I'm gonna build on it to include some cutscenes of some sort.
I've replaced the bomb Flower-up with a shield object. The bomb throwing never quite felt right in the game.
I've got an entire new title screen, complete with title music and a new background.
There are several other changes I can't even remember right now. This is just stuff off the top of my head. However, most of it aside from the controls and such, wont be in the next update simply because none of it is quit ready to be shown in an actual build. I want to finish, and polish all the new stuff before I finally release it, so that when I do, it will be a big release. (maybe I'll post a video showing off some mechanics, but idk)
speaking of the next release, I've decided to release the next version soon. Only because it's been 6 months since I last posted and I don't want to look dead... it should be up within the next few days...
Oh, and one more thing. I got my self a laptop specifically so I could work on my projects much more frequently. Half of the time I'm not working on stuff simply because sitting in front of a desktop all day alone in my room makes me want to kill myself... but now, I can work wherever, whenever I want to. So maybe things will begin to speed up a little.
